There’s some interesting gems hidden away in Plymouth’s back streets. I would love to have seen it before it got bombed and then bulldozed by city planners. The ‘Egyption house’ is a querky bar and functions place with hyrogliphics painted above the bar and a proper mug of tea for just £1! #Devonport #plymoutharchitecture #egyptionhouse
A few pics of community growing sites in Plymouth with Tess Wilmot of @foodplymouth. It’s exciting to see how run down areas can be brought to life by getting the local community involved in transforming their green areas. The boat garden is at the foot of the Lynher Tower in #Devonport . Previously it was just scrappy piece of ground used as a dog toilet #communitygrowers #permaculture
Last weekend’s tool repair workshops organised by Tess Wilmot as part of @FoodPlymouth #GrowingCommunityAbundance project supporting community growers and funded by @TNLCommunityFund. Lots of lovely sharp tools for their pruning workshops in the following week. Got so@e lovely feedback too 😊👍. Afterwards Tess and I spent a couple of hours talking about community projects and permaculture. This was all part of Tess’s pledge to support me with a workshop and some mentoring which she kindly promised at #CommunityOfDragons six months ago. REconomy Project: Totnes I’m very inspired by the grass roots work Tess and the team are doing to get People involved in greening their built environments and building healthy communities in Plymouth. #toolcareworkshops #foodplymouth #communitygardening
Preparing a new fork handle... firstly shaping the end, oiling, fitting, drilling and fixing new rivets. This is an old Devon made Dunsford, hand forged fork. Well worth saving. New ash British made handle from Carters up near Huddersfield. #toolrestoration #toolrepair #oldhandtools
My first garden tool re-handling workshop with a lovely group of folks who persevered even though we were short of time and another drill! I’ll know for next time though. Everyone managed to go home with a good as new fork or spade. I sourced British made ash handles for this, well worth it for the quality ... #gardentoolrepair #handtoolrestoration #gardenfork #repairworkshop #skillshare
Re-handling a garden fork D.I.Y in easy steps. First stage... 1 to 8 preparing the fork end... scroll to see process... more to come #handtoolrepair #handtoolrestoration #thebigfix #oldhandtools
Thanks to the incredibly helpful builders I finally got it done. They’ve been doing an amazing job of the renovation @bullinn_totnes. ://www.stonewoodbuild.co.uk/ #signwriting #pubsigns #totneshighstreet
Zen and the art of sign writing; Let not the brush of destiny falter, even when tested by passing car horns!! 😁 @bullinn_totnes #pubsigns #signwriting
Though the weather has been a real challenge I’ve really enjoyed observing Totnes life from my lofty position sign-writing @bullinn_totnes over the last couple of weeks. I did get the odd moment of blissful sunshine to bask in though mostly I was freezing my butt off and trying not to let the paint run! 😄 The pub is going to look gorgeous inside and the builders have done an amazing job. Looking forward to sampling a glass of vino by one of the open fires 🍷. #signwriting #pubsigns #totneslife #totnesdevon
